Deerhold’s Genomics Team is working with a technology-driven precision medicine company providing state- of-the-art diagnostic solutions for the rare genetic disorders and reproductive genetics markets, and treatment optimization in oncology. The proprietary whole genome analysis platform helps better understand a person’s genetic makeup, leading to unmatched diagnostic capabilities and improved personalized treatment recommendations. We are looking for a motivated Senior and Mid-Level Genetic Data Analyst to join our dynamic team.
Job Description
- Interpretation & Classification of Genetic variants based on in-house or client-specific standard operating procedures, and/or the procedures outlined by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG)
- Software-based quality analysis of DNA sequencing results
- Documentation of sequencing results of patients/subjects in Quality Analysis Reports and generation of genetic testing reports
- Identify and annotate the variants and associate them with clinical significance
- Identify and calculate insertion/deletion variants in the sequenced genes
- Enter genetic variants with relevant information into the client database where it can be referred for genetic changes interpretation
- Read biomedical papers pertaining to the variant of concern and extract relevant information such as frequency of variants in diseased and healthy individuals, genotype and phenotype information, functional/biochemical tests of the variant
- Perform predictions of variants using computational tools
- Feed all information through valid/standard algorithms to yield a range of scores that represents genotype-phenotype associate of genetic variants
- Summarize complex genetics and genomics literature with clarity and insight.
- Think independently to analyze and interpret data effectively.
- Proficiently curate genetic variants, demonstrating a deep understanding of genetics and genomics.
- Curate genetic content from databases and scientific literature, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Remain customer- and data-driven in all aspects of work.
- Demonstrate adaptability by quickly grasping new tasks and technologies.
Qualification
- Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biotechnology or other relevant subjects. (Master's or PhD preferred).
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of bioinformatics
- Strong proficiency in genetics and genomics.
- Two years of experience or more preferred.
- Proficiency in scientific software and genetic databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in a similar or equivalent role is advantageous.
